It’s that time of year when there’s virtually nothing to fish for around here so why not take a day away from watching sports to clean and repair all your fishing gear, something I bet many of us won’t do once we can get out there and flail the water again. As soon as fishing gets going again, who has time to clean gear and repair accessories unless it just fails to work at all?
This is a glitzy book with a non-nonsense approach to teaching the basics of fishing and of fishing gear. The book adheres to the topics at hand, and does not digress into irrelevant topics, such as recipes for fishing, or collections of jokes about fishing, or agencies for renting equipment.
Once you have located the leak, clean the area with a mild abrasive, like 70% isopropyl alcohol. The moment they are clean and dry, paint a thin layer of Aquaseal over the pinhole leak and allow 12 hrs to fully cure.
If you have a large hole or tear that will require a backing, you will need the Aquaseal Wader Repair Kit. I would recommend the following: Start by thoroughly cleansing the outside of the waders where they are damaged. Once clean and dry apply the black fabric patch to the outside of the waders, covering the entire damaged area by at least 1/4”. Next, turn the waders inside-out. Next, clean the inside repair area with the 70% isopropyl alcohol. Once clean and dry, cover the entire hole or tear with Aquaseal and allow 12 hours to fully cure.
Unpack and unroll waders as soon as you return home or to camp. Rinse the waders with tap water after each use. If waders are dirty or have been used in salt water, handwash them in warm water with a mild detergent. Do not bleach, machine dry, iron or dry clean your waders. Prior to storage, your waders must be completely dry inside and out. Store the waders upside down, out of sunlight, and away from electrical appliances. Do not expose waders to excessive heat and keep them away from open fires.
